Fall is my favorite season. Between cooler weather and pumpkin flavored everything, what’s not to love? It’s also a fun time of year to forgo nights out in favor of cooking in and watching movies at home.
If you enjoy tweaking your home decor seasonally, like I do, staying in provides a very good excuse for making a few updates that enhance the warmth and coziness factor of your favorite rooms.
Fortunately, not all updates have to be labor intensive. To help you get inspired, I’ve listed a few easy-to-make fall decor ideas below.
Get cozy quick with these simple home décor updates! Happy fall!
Update with Handknit Pillows
This handknit sweater pillow screams cooler weather and nights in. Plus, switching out throw pillows seasonally is a very cost-efficient way to make the design updates you crave. Available at Pottery Barn here.
Dim the Lights
A dimmer switch is a must-have for increasing the coziness factor of a room. Dimmer switches are available at Home Depot and similar stores and they aren’t that complicated to DIY.
Work a Winter Throw into Your Design
I’m fairly obsessed with this chevron cashmere throw from William Sonoma shown above. I want to wrap myself up in it, but I also want to display it on my sofa because it’s very chic! Available at William Sonoma here.
Add an Aromatic Element
Work wood or natural, scented décor items into the room. Try adding scented pine cones to decorative bowls, for example. And by all means, add more fragrance by burning fall scented candles.
Display Fresh Fall Flowers
Fresh fall flowers like dahlias, sunflowers and zinnias make a big fall statement. But if you are a traditionalist and love roses like I do, just pop them into an antique-looking vase with a few hypericum berries and you are good to go.
